MIS Kitchen News:

The breakfast program will be featuring a delicious and nutritious peach berry smoothie. This refreshing, healthy treat is loaded with peaches, strawberries, raspberries, bananas, and protein packed vanilla Greek yogurt. Peaches and berries are a few of the fruits that are naturally low in sugar, but are packed with beneficial vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. In addition to our breakfast combo meals the kitchen will be baking a rich chocolate zucchini muffin. What a great way to get some veggies in the morning for our students. This muffin is also filled with anti-inflammatory real cocoa, whole grain flour for long lasting energy and many other powerful nutrients!

For lunch, the McKelvie kitchen has an exciting new meal of a Stir Fry Bar. Build your own stir fry with crispy chicken topped with your choice of homemade teriyaki and honey miso sauce, brown rice or noodles and stir fried vegetable mix. This will be served with a whole grain vegetable spring roll, garden fresh Thai cucumber salad, fresh fruit and milk!

Library News:
Congratulations to Brooke, a 5th grader at McKelvie, who found the 5th “Golden Ticket.” Click HERE to see Brooke, her “Golden Ticket” and a reading prize!

The McKelvie Library continues to remain a busy place with students relaxing and reading. We have had hour-long library overviews to introduce and reacquaint the students with the physical layout, Destiny Discover (our search interface), policy and procedures, and the 112 new books we have acquired! Ask your child if he/she has visited their school library! So far 17 classes have come through! Click HERE to see an image of an overview in the library.
Just a friendly reminder... As part of the 1:1 Chromebook program, students were asked to bring in a pair of inexpensive headphones/earbuds to leave at school. We want to remind parents that there is an option for students to purchase a pair of inexpensive earbuds (similar in quality to what you would purchase on a plane) from the library for $1.

Have a relaxing weekend! ~Mrs. Cote

Box Top News:
McKelvie Shopping Coordinator - Box Top Update: If you haven’t heard already, the box top program is going digital. Over the next few years the clipped box tops will be phased out on product packing; however, please still send in your box tops to the collection bin outside the main office. Each one is worth $.10 cents.

The fall submission deadline is November 1st for the clipped box tops. To date we have collected $30.20 in digital scans and $15.00 in clipped box tops. We need your help!

Visit the app store on your smart phone and download the Box Tops for Education app and select McKelvie as your school of choice. Scanning your receipts takes seconds once the app is setup. Thank you in advance. Here is a link: https://www.boxtops4education.com/
