Dear McKelvie Families ~

Have you ever made breakfast for 100?  Well - thanks to the efforts of our students, Mrs. Asdot and I made pancakes for the students in the Conner, Oliveira,  Francis, & Parnell homerooms.  These kids were super thankful and very gracious.  They were also REALLY hungry!  Anyway, it was a terrific way to start our day.  Special thanks to Mrs. Roy, Mrs. Gould, Mrs. Parsons, and Ms. McGinty for helping out (Do you really think the two of us could pull this off alone?).  Below are the notes for this week:

Mr. Fournier's MAT Challenge
This is the last weekend to collect sponsors for the Move-A-Thon.  Ask your neighbors, family, and friends to support this year's Move-A-Thon.  We are excited to announce that if our school raises $40,000 in the Move-A-Thon,  Recycled Percussion will come to our Move-A-Thon assembly and include Mr. Fournier in their drumming performance.   Let's get moving and raise funds!

Move-A-Thon Equipment
Students can start bringing in their Move-A-Thon equipment on Monday.  If you take the bus, for this event only, Move-A-Thon equipment can come in on the bus.  If your child is riding their scooter, ripstick or skateboard they must wear a helmet to participate.  Rollerblading has additional safety requirements.  For a full list of equipment needed for Track Activities (i.e. scooter, ripstick, Skateboard, and Rollerblading) click HERE.

We are deep in the throws of the McKelvie Move-a-thon!  Our goal is to raise $40,000 to bring our efforts for a new Courtyard to fruition.  While we do not recommend  going door to door, this is a terrific weekend to collect a few sponsors.  We hope to have 100% participation so that we can meet our goal!  There will be some really cool prizes including a limo lunch, and ride to school via Police Cruiser and Fire Truck.  Thank you so very much for your support in this effort!

Congratulations to our first "search slip" winner of the school year. Peter's "search slip" was drawn from all of the entries seen HERE. The 5th grader correctly filled out a "search slip" when he was looking for a book in the McKelvie Library. Congratulations, Peter, and enjoy your sweet treat! Click HERE to see Peter, his entry, and prize. Another winner will be drawn from the submissions entered during the month of October.

Ledger found a "Golden Ticket!"  This is the 4th out of 10 hidden tickets to be found. He was reading his book at home when it was located. HERE is Ledger with the book he checked out from the library, the "Golden Ticket," and his prize.

The McKelvie Library recently obtained new books! HERE you will see most of these new fiction and nonfiction acquisitions right before they entered the hands of readers! There is nothing like a new book!
