Dear McKelvie Families ~

Today's kick off of our READ Project was AMAZING.  I have the privilege of reading with twelve 5th grade students and they are awesome.  In case you are not up to speed, we are reading Fish In a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt.  And - thanks to the Bedford Education Foundation (BEF), Ms. Hunt will be visiting McKelvie this year.

Polite & Right Raffle Winners
Congratulations!

McKelvie School Pictures
Thursday was picture day and the kids looked terrific.  There were ties, gel, collared shirts, and big smiles.  It's always a nice reminder to see everyone all cleaned up!  I hope that your child's picture comes out great.  If not, retakes are scheduled for Monday, October 26th.

McKelvie & Chipolte - 10/7
Mark you calendars and plan to give your kitchen the night off!  On Wednesday, October 7th, between 5:00 and 8:00, the Bedford Chipotle will be hosting a fundraiser to support the McKelvie Intermediate School, Move-A-Thon!  Plan to eat great and support our school!  Click here for more information.

McKelvie Directory Information
A school directory letter went home today. In years past these letters have been eaten by pack packs, washing machines, lunch boxes and various other animate or inanimate objects.  If you do not see the form, please ask your child if they have it in their paperwork.  It would be very much appreciated if you could make any corrections and/or changes to the data on this form and return as soon as possible.   The directories from McKelvie will be the last opportunity for you to have a collection of addresses, emails, phone numbers, etc. for your son/daughter's classmates.  The cost of this year's directory will be $8 for one or $15 for two.  The order form is part of the letter which you should be receiving.  Again, your prompt response will be appreciated as there is much work to be done getting this Directory ready for printing.  Questions can be directed to Barbara Chagnon, bchagnon80@gmail.com

Dear McKelvie Families ~

This week I read a wonderful blog that resonated with me as a dad (and Principal).  Often times, we can lose our center and require some anchoring in our thinking.  While I personally agree with the author's thoughts, you may not.  That is okay.  Whatever you believe, the blog is poignant and beautifully written.  Click here to check it out.

Congratulations!

A FUN picture
Our kids are always doing special things that make us smile.  This week, Kaleigh Slozak wore a cool t-shirt to Physical Education.  Click here for the picture.  If you cannot see the words, it says: "This is my handstand shirt." Cute.

McKelvie Move-a-thon
The Move-A-Thon kick off occurred today.  Your child should come home with exciting information (bright green packet of paper!) regarding this event, our school's only fundraiser.  Student registration occurs on the McKelvie website.  The registration link "opens" at 7pm tonight/Friday (there are some Move-A-Thon events that will close once they are at capacity).  If you wish to order a Move-A-Thon t-shirt, the green t-shirts order forms will be accepted at McKelvie until Wednesday, September 30th.  This year's Move-A-Thon funds will be used to purchase additional chrome books for classroom use, create an outdoor classroom, and support our school's PTG.  More information regarding the Move-A-Thon can be found on the McKelvie website.

School Directory
Keep your eyes on the look out for a McKelvie School Directory.  We have a few amazing volunteers who will be coordinating this process.  More information to come!

9/11/15

Dear McKelvie Families ~

I hope this email finds you well on this solemn remembrance of 9/11.  Aside from our flag at half staff, the school day ran as normal.  However, that does not change the fact that many of us remember exactly where we were that September day.  As I look across the sea of children in our care, I am hopeful for a more peaceful world as they grow.  Below are important notes for this week.

PTG Membership Envelopes
If you have not had a chance to fill out and return your PTG Membership information, please do so.  The PTG contributes AMAZING programs to our school! Questions can be directed to Sue Jennato @ sjennato@comcast.net

Dear McKelvie Families ~

It was a scorcher this week!  It's remarkable to me that the humidity will go away this weekend and then be back next week - poor kids (and grown ups)!  Please remember to have your children wear loose clothing and stay hydrated.  Both teachers and students have been wonderful despite the tough conditions in the classroom.

Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day.
