Informational Tours of Lurgio for the Parents of Rising Seventh Graders:
On June 2 and 3, from 5:30pm until 7:30pm, Ross A. Lurgio Middle School will be hosting informational tours of the building for parents. The goal of the tours is to familiarize parents/guardians with Lurgio Middle School and what life is like for our students.  This event is just for parents; students will be having their own tours on Move-up Day. To help maintain social distancing in our school building, we will be limiting the size of the tours. Please use this
sign up for each parent/guardian attending.  If you are unable to attend, we will send out a video during the summer.  Any questions should be directed to the Lurgio Main Office.

5.16.21 Principal Notes

 Dear McKelvie Families~

First off, a BIG THANK YOU to all of our families for helping to make dismissal safer and more manageable for everyone.  Not having cars stack on Liberty Hill and County Roads as well as parents not coming until 3:15 has made all the difference!

I would also like to thank the PTG and all of the parents for making Staff Appreciation Week so awesome for our staff!  Once again this community outdid itself, and we greatly appreciated all you did for us this week!  Thank you!

SAS testing went really well last week, and it was wonderful having most of our fully remote kids back in the building!  Make ups will continue this week, in addition to the 5th grade Science SAS test Wednesday morning.

Vaccine Clinic Message from Superintendent Fournier:
The Bedford School District is working with our partners at Rite Aid to host a vaccination clinic for students ages 12 and up.  This clinic will be completely voluntary and is not required.  Parents are encouraged to speak with their PCP regarding the administration of the Pfizer vaccine for their child.

Please click HERE to express interest.  If there is enough interest, we will host a clinic. Please respond no later than MONDAY, MAY 17th at NOON.

For this clinic, families will need to bring a copy of their insurance information.  For families without health insurance, Rite Aid has the ability to assist and will be able to provide that information to you.

We will send out a follow up email next week with all of the required information.

Many Thanks,

Mike (Superintendent)

Masks at Recess:
Beginning Monday, May 10th masks at recess will be OPTIONAL.
Rationale:
- State & County numbers are trending down and Bedford numbers are stable
- Recess is outdoors and allows for ample physical distancing
- All students self-screen prior to attending school and are therefore asymptomatic
- All employees who want to be vaccinated have had the opportunity to do so
- Per DHHS recommendations, we will continue to REQUIRE masks in the buildings.
- Team sports will continue to follow NHIAA protocols.

A Message From Lurgio for 6th Grade Families:

Dear Sixth Grade Families,

Here are some of the ways we are going to help your student transition from McKelvie to

    • The Lurgio principals and guidance counselors visit McKelvie to meet the sixth graders to give a presentation and answer any questions.

  • Parent Tours of Lurgio-June 1 & 2

    • Parents will be invited to take a tour of Lurgio.  A signup will be emailed during the last week of May.

  • Move-up Day-June 11

    • All sixth graders (remote and in-person) are invited to come to Lurgio to meet the teachers and tour the building.

  • Lurgio Base Camp-August 16-17

    • A two day camp that will introduce students to Lurgio in a fun active way.

We are looking forward to meeting your students and welcoming them to Lurgio.

Sincerely,
