2.8.20 Principal Notes

Dear McKelvie Families,

Thank you to all of the families who donated food items for our "Souper Bowl" food drive. We couldn't be more proud of these kids! We were able to collect over 30 large boxes of food for families in need.

Upcoming Events:

Grandparents and Kin Caregiver Social:
If you are a grandparent or other family member that has taken over the responsibility of raising a minor loved one, Waypoint, formerly known as Child and Family Services, is offering a social on Tuesday, February 18th from 9-11. Click HERE for a flyer with additional information.

Library News:
The library was busy this week with fiction book tastings and classes coming to learn to cite TrueFlix ebooks and print books. Many students have found that the subscription library databases have been helpful with a unit about Westward Expansion!

We continue to add new titles to our school library collection! Be sure to have your child check out the ribbon in Destiny Discover to see the "Recently Added Books." It is also helpful for the students to check their holds and checkouts, to make sure holds (books that have been placed on hold if they are currently out of the library) are checked out and returned on time.

Last Friday, the 5th "Search Slip" raffle was held for the month of January! The "Search Slips" are filled out with the title of the book, the author's last name, and the call number. This is done when students are looking for a book using the online catalog. The student then has an opportunity to write his/her name on the back of the "Search Slip" and enter a monthly raffle! January's raffle winner was from Mr. Robinson's homeroom. Logan received a $5.00 gift certificate for a sweet treat. Click HERE to see Logan.

McKelvie, have a wonderful weekend! ~Mrs. Cote

Harlem Globetrotters:

Please join us as the McKelvie Chorus sings the National Anthem at the Saturday, March 21st 2:00pm Harlem Globetrotter show. The show will be at the SNHU Arena on Elm St in Manchester.

Please send in THIS form and payment made to McKelvie Intermediate School to the office no later than Feb 19th. There are three price points for discounted tickets. The organization will try to keep all McKelvie families in the same sections.
