11.30.18 Principal Notes

Dear McKelvie Families~

Staff and students are back into the swing of a five day school week!  Hopefully there won't be any snow days between now and the holiday break!  Friday, December 7th at 6:30pm is the McKelvie Holiday Concert.  The band and chorus students have worked really hard and are excited to put on a wonderful show.  Come out and show your support to the McKelvie music program on Friday night!

Lost and Found:
If your child is missing his/her winter hat, gloves, jacket, or any other item of clothing, take a look in the lost and found.  The current lost and found will be donated over the Holiday Break to make room for new lost items to come in 2019.

Community Action Team:
The Toys for Tots toy drive began on November 26th. We will be collecting toys at McKelvie until December 13th. We welcome students to bring in new, unwrapped toys.  Collection boxes are outside the main office. The homeroom that brings in the most toys in their grade will be rewarded with a special PJ Day. Thank you for your toy contributions!

Library News:
Hello from Library Land! It is hard to believe that tomorrow is the first of December!

Congratulations to the 10th Golden Ticket winner! Jayden, a 5th grader, was searching for a quote from a professional soccer player when the 10th and final "Golden Ticket" was located.  Jayden received a $5.00 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble! Click HERE to see all of the Golden Tickets.

On Thursday, we wrapped up our first Before-School Book Club!  It was a real treat to be able to read one of the New Hampshire Great Stone Face Nominees with students who were excited about The Losers Club by Andrew Clements. Stay tuned as Amy Poisson (McKelvie Enrichment Teacher) and I will be offering another club in the spring.

Have a great weekend! ~Mrs. Cote

Bedford PTG and Ross A. Lurgio Middle School are proud to host Detective Matt Fleming of the Bedford Police Department as he presents about the dangers that teens face on social media. This 1.5 hour presentation is specifically geared towards parents, educators and community leaders who are looking to better understand the technology available to teens today and the ways in which child predators use it to exploit them. Parents who wish to bring their children should use caution as the subject matter is very mature. Click here for more information.
