Dear McKelvie Families~

It appears winter has come a little early this year! Please encourage your child to dress appropriately for the weather. We highly encourage kids to wear boots if they are planning to go in the snow. We are unable to provide a change of clothes/socks if kids get wet from playing in the snow without the proper gear.

A reminder to parents about 2-hour delays- the before school program opens at 9:30. We have no before school activities on delay days and the bus comes 2 hours later than the original time.

Community Action Team (CAT) - Toys for Tots Drive:
CAT is kicking off their annual Toys for Tots Drive following Thanksgiving Break. Toys can be dropped off at McKelvie until Friday, December 14th. Students are encouraged to bring in a new, unwrapped toy to donate for the holidays. There will be bins across from the main office where students can drop off their toys. Community Action Team members thank you for your support of the Toys for Tots Drive!

Diabetes Awareness:
Did you know November is Diabetes Awareness Month? In 2015, 30.3 million Americans, or 9.4% of the population, had diabetes and of that number, approximately 1.25 million American children and adults have type 1 diabetes. 1.5 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes every year. Given the prevalence of diabetes in the United States, having the facts is an important part of detection, treatment, and prevention (type 2).
