Social Media and Snapchat at McKelvie
This year there have been a number of students using the app Snapchat outside of school, leading to a lot of drama and discipline that carries over into the school day. In talking with many of your kids, a number of very inappropriate snaps and texts are being shared by large groups of students. In addition to Snapchat there are several other Social Media Apps being used by our students such as Instagram and Facebook.
Things to consider to help our kids:
- Monitor your child’s device for all social media
- Limit access to devices-phones/ipods are put away at 8:00pm for the night.
- Do not let devices stay in your child’s room overnight
- Talk with our child about the dangers of Social Media
2018-19 School Calendar
The School Board has approved the 2018-19 School Calendar. Please note that there is a substantial change for 2018-19. The district will shift from tracking days to tracking hours. As a result, the last day of school for 2018-19 will be no later than June 13 and could be as early as June 6. The first five snow days, if needed, will be made up by students at the end of the year. Any snow days beyond five days will not need to be made up by students. This should bring some more predictability to the end of the year for families.

here will be another viewing of Screenagers. It is on Wednesday April 4th at 6 PM at St Elizabeth’s in the Gym. The McKelvie guidance team will be hosting this event.
Meditation Workshop - correction: parents only
McKelvie parents are invited to attend a 1 hour event on SuperBrain Yoga and Meditation. This special event will be presented by Krithika Srinivasan on Thursday, April 5th @7pm in the McKelvie Library. Please RSVP to: srinikrit@gmail.com
Pi Day Memorization Contest!
Congratulations to sixth-grader Sofia DiStefano for being the winner in McKelvie's Pi memorization contest! Sofia correctly recited 127 digits of Pi and won a Pi t-shirt! Click HERE to see Sofia’s big smile!

We are excited to announce that beginning Monday, April 30th, we will be offering “Grab ‘n Go” breakfast for all students. This may be helpful for your morning routine. More details to come!
