3.23.18

Dear McKelvie Families ~

On Wednesday evening this week, the Music Department hosted a Recital Night. Fifteen students took to the stage and shared their musical talents with peers and parents.  It was a small, intimate setting, but the musicianship was outstanding. I am so proud of these students and equally proud of Mrs. Coughlin and Mrs. Wickham for facilitating this opportunity.  Click HERE for a picture of those involved.

From the Library
Susan Cavanaugh, the McKelvie Technology Integrator, and Julie Cote, Librarian, delivered an overarching view of the topic Digital Citizenship to every pod at McKelvie. Current and relevant topics in this overview included, what is means to be a good digital citizen, what a digital footprint is and how it can be viewed by others, and how one can appropriately handle cyberbullying. These interactive lessons included the use of collaborative and engaging technology platforms, Padlet and Kahoot. Be sure to ask your child what a digital footprint is!

In the library, students collaboratively just completed a second 1,000 piece puzzle! Click HERE to see the vintage poster lighthouses puzzle. It is fun to watch the students engage and work as a team to piece the puzzle together. A big thank you to Ori Kotlar, in Mrs. Cleghorn's homeroom, for helping me Mod Podge the second completed puzzle. It is now in the library for all to see. A third puzzle will soon be in the works!
