Dear McKelvie Families ~
This has been quite the week. Two delays and one snow day makes for a rather splintered few days for our students. With a bit of luck (and warm weather), next week will be a full 5 days where we can get back in the groove again. With that said, I hope that your week has been a good one and that these circumstances have not placed too much of a burden on your family schedule.
New Last Day
As of today, we have a total of four days to make up. As a result, our new last day of school is Tuesday, June 19th.
Adolescent Anxiety
Every family must contend with some level of anxiety with their children. However, some families struggle more than others. The Fournier family is no exception to this dilemma. Over vacation our 4th "Search Slip" raffle was held for the month of December! The "Search Slips" are filled out with the title of the book, the author's last name, and the call number. This is done when students are looking for a book using the online catalog. The student then has an opportunity to write his/her name on the back of the "Search Slip" and enter a monthly raffle! December's raffle winner was from Mrs. Mail's homeroom. Audrey Dimond received a $5.00 gift certificate for a sweet treat.
Happy 2018! Is is too early to think about spring and baseball, especially after Winter Storm Grayson? McKelvie was registered to participate in the 2017-2018 Fisher Cats Reading Challenge presented by Velcro! This is the start of their 15th season.
Look for the bookmark/form coming home with your child and promote pleasure reading! On the perforated bookmark, there is a spot for your child to write 5 reading level appropriate book titles. Your child(ren) can start now and record titles up until the March 16th deadline. Follow the instructions on the form. After mailing the form in the 2 FREE tickets will be mailed to the address you list! There is a $3.00 processing fee ONLY if additional tickets are PURCHASED.

PTG Night at the Monarchs – On Saturday, January 20th at 6:00pm come join the Bedford PTG and the Manchester Monarchs as we host our Marvel Superhero and Villains Night! Principal Winter Reading Night – Dress in your PJ’s, bring a blanket and come listen to all the Bedford Principal’s read you a story. This fun filled event will be held on January 25th at the McKelvie Intermediate School cafeteria. Choose between two session times 4:30pm or 6:30pmon the flyer that came home in your student’s backpack or if you need another, please click PWRN Flyer. Registrations must be returned to your teacher by Friday January 12th.
Barnes and Noble Days with Bedford PTG – Save the date for our event to be held January 25th – 28th at the Barnes and Noble Manchester location. More information coming soon!
Champions for Children - Once again, the New Hampshire School Administrators Association is seeking nominees for the "Champions for Children Award Program". Last year, Bedford nominated Greg Uliaz as our District Champion. Greg was later selected as the South Central region winner and was recognized at the State-wide breakfast along with his family.
Nominees are individuals who have given distinguished service to children over the past year. To nominate a Bedford Champion, please complete this short form no later than January 31, 2018.
