May 7, 2021 Principal Notes

Dear McKelvie Families~

We had a wonderful first week back after April vacation!  Kids are back in the swing and ready to learn!

Next week is NHSAS Testing on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning from 9-11.  Please help your kids by:

  • Getting them to school on time (sitting in homeroom by 8:50)
  • Charging Chromebooks every night
  • Getting a good night's sleep

Masks at Recess:
Beginning Monday, May 10th masks at recess will be OPTIONAL.
Rationale:
- State & County numbers are trending down and Bedford numbers are stable
- Recess is outdoors and allows for ample physical distancing
- All students self-screen prior to attending school and are therefore asymptomatic
- All employees who want to be vaccinated have had the opportunity to do so
- Per DHHS recommendations, we will continue to REQUIRE masks in the buildings.
- Team sports will continue to follow NHIAA protocols.

A Message From Lurgio for 6th Grade Families:

Dear Sixth Grade Families,

Here are some of the ways we are going to help your student transition from McKelvie to

Lurgio:

  • Lurgio Road Show-First week of June

    • The Lurgio principals and guidance counselors visit McKelvie to meet the sixth graders to give a presentation and answer any questions.

  • Parent Tours of Lurgio-June 1 & 2

    • Parents will be invited to take a tour of Lurgio.  A signup will be emailed during the last week of May.

  • Move-up Day-June 11

    • All sixth graders (remote and in-person) are invited to come to Lurgio to meet the teachers and tour the building.

  • Lurgio Base Camp-August 16-17

    • A two day camp that will introduce students to Lurgio in a fun active way.

We are looking forward to meeting your students and welcoming them to Lurgio.

Sincerely,

Ed Joyce

Principal
