5.1.2020 Principal Notes

Dear McKelvie Families~

Thank you so much for sending in many wonderful pictures of your kids, to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week! The slideshow will go out to staff on Monday. I hope everyone was able to unwind a little during this mini vacation. I also want to thank all of you for the way you are supporting your children with their school work during Remote Learning. This has been an incredible undertaking for our families, and you are doing a terrific job!

We are currently working on plans for students to safely drop off their school borrowed materials and to pick up the belongings they left behind, sometime in June. We will keep you posted as to how and when that will occur, as we get closer to June.

Library News:
Congratulations to our fourth and final raffle winner drawn during National School Library Month! Joseph, from Mrs. Lorden's homeroom, was selected out of the entries submitted. The Great Stone Face title that Joseph selected will be mailed to him from one of our local indie bookstores, Bookery Manchester. Happy reading!

Great Stone Face voting is live! Click HERE to cast ONE VOTE via a Google Form! The winner of the 2020 Great Stone Face Award will be announced soon, as will the 20 nominees for next school year!

McKelvie just acquired 66 book titles. These were ordered at the end of February and have taken a bit to arrive, but they are here! These fiction, non-fiction, biography and picture books will be ready for students to checkout in August.

As we continue to navigate remote learning, please do not hesitate to email me if you need any help or have questions regarding Sora, any of our digital resources (databases), or Destiny! I am just an email away and am happy to help.

Please stay tuned for an upcoming announcement from the McKelvie Library regarding a library book drop-off day! For now, please make sure that you can account for all of your McKelvie Library books. The collection day will only be for library books, including any books borrowed from other schools in the district. This collection is not for textbooks. If you have textbooks at home, they will remain at home until the end of the school-year. The scheduled drop-off date will be announced via the library blog, the McKelvie School calendar, and in Principal's News.

Happy May, McKelvie! The books and I miss you. ~Mrs. Cote
