9/11/15

Dear McKelvie Families ~

I hope this email finds you well on this solemn remembrance of 9/11.  Aside from our flag at half staff, the school day ran as normal.  However, that does not change the fact that many of us remember exactly where we were that September day.  As I look across the sea of children in our care, I am hopeful for a more peaceful world as they grow.  Below are important notes for this week.

PTG Membership Envelopes
If you have not had a chance to fill out and return your PTG Membership information, please do so.  The PTG contributes AMAZING programs to our school! Questions can be directed to Sue Jennato @ sjennato@comcast.net

McKelvie School Picture Day
Thursday, September 24th is school picture day.  Both individual and class pictures will be taken between 9am and 11am.

McKelvie READ Project - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We are excited to announce that all staff and students will be participating in a whole school read each morning (9-9:30) from September 28 through October 9!  This year we will read the novel Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt.  Students do not need the book to participate as teachers will be reading aloud. However, if your child would prefer to be able to follow along, feel free to purchase the book as we will not provide copies for each student. Please help make this program a success by getting your child to school on time so that he or she does not miss any of the read aloud.  We highly encourage you to click HERE to learn more about the READ Project! Questions can be directed to Lee Webb at webbl@sau25.net

Math and Reading Support
Permission slips for our support programs in math and reading will go out to families of invited students next week in the mail.  We have the opportunity to provide extra help several times each week to many students!  Please return your permission slip as soon as possible.  Questions about Math Support can be directed to Maria Rocco (roccom@sau25.net), Math Tutor.  For reading questions, contact Lee Webb (webbl@sau25.net), Reading Specialist. Both can be reached at 472-3951 x2249.

Grade 5 Parent Night
Monday, September 28th from 6pm to 7:30pm.  Click here to view the invitation.

Shopping Rewards
It's that time a year again to help earn money for our school. There are several ways to do this. It's easy, just clip box tops or labels for education on participating products such as soup and goldfish bags and send them into your school. Other ways to earn money for our school are Hannafords Rewards and Target Rewards. At Hannaford, buy 4 participating products and you will get 3 reward dollars for the school. Take the reward certificate and drop it in the provided box with the school's name before you leave the store. At Target, you can link your credit or debit REDcard on the Target website for the school and every time you use them 1% is given back to the school.  Questions can be directed to Stephanie Richard at spare111778@aol.com
