Thank You to the PTG:
Thank you to the PTG for sponsoring the grade 6 field trip to America's Stonehenge! It's a terrific field trip that kids really enjoy, and the PTG paid for the tickets for all of the sixth graders to get in. Your support for McKelvie School is very much appreciated!

Shopping Coordinator Update:
Well it is official, our first homeroom collection drive is over and the winner of our competition is Mrs. Mail’s classroom. They will be the lucky recipients of a hot cocoa celebration in November.

One quick reminder as this fundraiser moves toward a more digital platform, download the Box Top App and scan your receipts but make sure you give credit to your homeroom teacher. Please key in the homeroom teacher’s last name in the “credit” field and I will include those in the next round of classroom competitions. Most of our scans didn’t have teacher names.

Thank you for everybody who participated. Our total collected dollars is now $299.30.

Next month, please look for our video showing you how easy it is to scan those receipts once your app is downloaded.

Library News:
Last week McKelvie began participating in the Rubik's Cube Challenge! Click HERE to see our Mustang Pride! This mosaic was completed is about 4 days. Go McKelvie Mustangs.

Happy November, McKelvie families! The library remains a busy place! In conjunction with our Digital Learning Specialist, Susan Cavanaugh, we have been learning about the importance of citing sources. Four classes of students learned how to download and cite images for a six word memoir project! This is being done using the (Modern Language Association) MLA 8 citation format.

Congratulations to our 2nd Search Slip winner of the year! Fifth grader, Maria O'Brien, along with MANY others, entered our monthly library raffle by filling out a Search Slip with information regarding the book they are looking for in the McKelvie Library. Each month all of the Search Slips are collected and one winner is drawn from all of the entries for the month. Click HERE to see Maria and the envelope containing a gift certificate for a sweet treat!

Many students are enjoying our school library origami "station." If you would be interested in donating some 6 inch square origami paper, I would be grateful! HERE is the link to Amazon for the paper the students have been using. Thank you for your consideration.

MIS Kitchen News:
The breakfast program will be featuring a delicious and nutritious strawberry pineapple smoothie. This smoothie is loaded with fresh fruit and vanilla yogurt for some beneficial vitamins, fiber and protein. In addition to breakfast combo meals, the kitchen will be offering a homemade pumpkin spice bread topped with semisweet chocolate chips. Yummy and nourishing pumpkin is exceptionally high in antioxidant beta carotene which the body turns into vitamin A. Vitamin A helps to protect our skin and reduces breakouts, leaving you with a naturally healthy, soft glow. Pumpkin is also filled with vitamins and minerals that help boost the body’s immune system and ability to fight infections.

The lunch program will be featuring a tasty meal on Tuesday, November 5th. We will be offering BBQ chicken, homemade brown rice and cranberry pilaf, fresh steamed corn on the cob, maple baked beans, a whole grain dinner roll, fresh fruit and milk. On Wednesday, November 6th, pasta day, the kitchen will be serving local Pineland Farms meatballs made with all-natural beef. These meatballs have no antibiotics or hormones added to them. They will be served with marinara sauce, wholesome whole grain pasta for some great complex carbohydrates, providing long lasting energy, fresh roasted green beans with parmesan and basil, fresh fruit and milk.
