Dear McKelvie Families ~

It’s Superbowl weekend and the kids are jazzed.  It was a great today - so many jerseys from a variety of teams.  Most were Tom Brady though!  I’m hopeful for a celebratory, yet sleepy Monday morning.  Enjoy your weekend!

From the Guidance Office
Next week, February 6-10, we will be celebrating National School Counseling Week!  Our counselors, Priscilla McGinty and Jodi Parsons will be raising awareness of school counseling services, and focus on ways to help students realize their potential.  Daily themes include friendship, kindness, career goals, healthy choices, and Mustang pride! If you have any questions about what guidance services are available at McKelvie please contact our guidance department.  The office can be reached at 472-3951 x 22219.

Club Photos
A photographer will be here on the morning of Tuesday, February 7th, to take club photos for the yearbook. If your child is a member of a club this year, please make every effort possible to have him/her present and on time so they won't miss the photo. We also will be taking individual photos of students who either missed the original/retake picture days or are new to the district since November 7th.

Yearbook Orders
The easiest way to order: online by going to Simply click on "Buy Your Student's Yearbook" in the upper left corner and then select our school.  Note: there is no extra charge for ordering your yearbook online. Important: If you choose to order any "photo gifts", they should be set up to ship to your home address, as the school will not be handling those orders.

If you wish to pay with cash or check, order forms were sent home with students on Friday, February 3rd.  Complete the order form and have your student return the form and payment to his/her homeroom teacher.  Checks should be made payable to McKelvie Intermediate School.

The following students auditioned for and were selected to be a part of the New Hampshire Band Directors Association Middle School Honors Band on Friday, March 17th. They will be spending the day rehearsing at UNH and putting on a concert with students from 38 different schools! Congratulations to: Mattan Mohel, Elsie Munsterteiger, and Amelia Tennant. From the Library
Congrats to 5th grader Nicholas Boucher from Mr. Brown's homeroom! He was the 5th "Search Slip" winner for the month of January. Nicholas had his search slip filled out correctly and entered it into the monthly drawing! He won a $5.00 gift certificate to put towards a treat at a local ice cream establishment. Enjoy your sweet treat, Nick!

The READ project at McKelvie has begun! The official word from the Fisher Cats is that we can count the book Masterminds by Gordon Korman. This book title can be counted towards 1 of the 5 titles submitted towards receiving 2 FREE Fisher Cats tickets. If your child does not yet have a bookmark to record books on, please send him/her to the library.

World Language Club
The McKelvie World Language club had a visit last week from two Bedford High School French students, Jillian Leveille and Lauren Johnson. They taught our students about Three Kings Day. Our students became queens and kings for the day after making their crowns. See THIS photo of their fun time with the French students.

Yankee Candle Fundraiser:
Announcing an exciting new fundraiser…. Yankee Candle is here!! Enjoy the same quality candles in a variety of scents and other great products from Yankee Candle while 40% of the sales go back to the PTG. Families K-6 will be receiving a color brochure in backpacks this week; Lurgio and BHS families can find brochures in the front offices or simply shop online using this link (and feel free to share the link with family and friends that enjoy Yankee Candle, anywhere in the US). Yankee Candles make great gifts for any occasion and are made right here in New England. Online orders will be shipped directly to the purchaser and shipping is free on purchases over $100. Due to the fragile nature of the products, any paper orders will need to be picked up at McKelvie in March (pick up date and times to be announced).
Barnes and Noble Thank You:
Thank you to everyone that came out to Barnes and Noble on South Willow Street this weekend to support the PTG.
The PTG 5K Color Run/Walk is Coming!
