Dear McKelvie Families ~

This is it.  The days are longer and brighter - so will also be my emails.  Information will begin to come at you like water through a fire hose.  I will do my best to keep the information short and sweet.  However, there is a lot happening, so we will all have to try to keep up.  This week's updates are below:

Smarter Balance Testing Schedule
For planning purposes, below is the schedule for students to participate in State Testing.  Consistent attendance from 9am to 11am will be helpful in students completing the assessment with their peers. 

4/4 - 4/8: Stank, Donahue, Ashby, Francis, Sevilla, Draper, Lovering, Kelly
4/11 - 4/15: Opitz, Brown, Facques, Mazzella, Cleghorn, Hayward

World Language Week
Next week is World Language Week at McKelvie!  This will be an exciting time planned by our World Language Department.  Click here to check out all of the exciting plans we have for the staff and students.

Opt in to Text Messages - IMPORTANT
If you have not signed up for text messages from the District's School Messenger system, you still can!  Just text "yes" to 68453.  This is especially important for bus breakdowns and emergencies.

2016/2017 School Calendar NEW
The School Board recently voted to approve next year's calendar. Click here for a copy.  The calendar is posted on the School District Web Site.

Spring Cleaning
Coming soon…McKelvie will be participating in a clothing drive with Schoola (www.schoola.com). If this spring-like weather has got you ready to clean out your closets, please consider donating your clothing items to our drive which will be held April 4th-8th. From the Border to Our Corner - A Law Enforcement Perspective on Substance Abuse
On behalf of the Bedford Police Department, we are pleased to let parents know about a
 screening of a video produced jointly by FBI and DEA entitled “Chasing the Dragon” concerning the many aspects of substance abuse.  
​The screening w​
ill be followed by a round table discussion and Q and A from audience.   Panelists will include Bedford Police Chief Bryfonski; NH Senator Kelly Ayotte; DEA Special Agent in Charge, Jon DeLena; FBI Special Agent in Charge, Scott O’Donnell; NH State Police Chief, Robert Quinn; and President, NH Chiefs of Police, Robert Cormier.

Spelling Bee Winner
Congratulations to 6th grader Lucky Kovvuri for representing McKelvie School in the NH State Spelling Bee last Saturday.   Not only did she earn a spot as a finalist on the stage in front of an audience of 500, she came in 3rd place! We are very proud of her!

McKelvie Yearbook Orders
Reminder that the 15/16 McKelvie yearbooks are on sale and can be pre-ordered for only $22. Click HERE for ordering information.  Online ordering is the easiest method; however, if you prefer to pay by cash or check, complete the order form that was sent home today with your student and return it to his/her homeroom teacher with payment. Checks should be payable to McKelvie Intermediate School.

Don't miss out on a great book of memories from the 15/16 school year.  Order deadline is April 13, 2016.  We will only have a small handful of extra books available when the books arrive, but they will be sold on a first come, first served basis and will sell for $25."

Bedford Early Education Program (BEEP) 
is now accepting registrations for the 2016-2017 School Year.  We have space available in many of our 3 and 4 year old classrooms.  Please contact Roberta Keane, BEEP Coordinator at (603) 627-1776 x3216 or keaner@sau25.net.

The Community Enrichment Program of the Bedford School District offers evening adult enrichment courses to the Bedford Community. Our Spring Courses are now listed and we are offering Conversational Italian for Beginners as well as our popular Ceramics and Photography. Click here to view our course descriptions.

BHS Senior Project
Come support Make-A-Wish Foundation® at Amanda Lee's Senior Project: a Sing-A-Long Benefit Concert! Kids of all ages are welcome to sing along to favorites such as "Part of Your World" and "Let It Go" this Saturday, March 5th, from 1-3 pm in the Bedford High School Commons (Cafeteria). Enjoy a few fun activities and meet a couple of special guests! The suggested donation for kids is $5 and for adults $10, but any and all donations are welcome!
