12.2.16

Dear McKelvie Families ~

I want to acknowledge that this is a busy - and sometimes trying - time of year.  As a school, we have so many activities, initiatives, and events for kids and their families.  While we always welcome participation, we see these as a menu of options rather than an obligation to participate.  Whether it be the Book Fair, Toys for Tots, Food Drives, or School Clothing, do not feel obligated to take part in each event.  We are grateful to be part of a kind and generous community!  Below are this week’s notes:

Move-a-thon Winners
Congratulations to our MAT Raffle Winners!  Click HERE to see who won.

Yearbook Cover Contest
The Yearbook Club is conducting its annual cover design contest for the front and back covers of the 2016/17 yearbook!  All submissions will be published in the yearbook; however, only one sixth and one fifth grade design will be selected for the front and back covers.  Submissions should be dropped off in the Guidance Office no later than Friday, December 9th.  Click HERE for details.

Toys for Tots
The Community Action Team is collecting new, unwrapped toys for the annual Toys for Trots Drive.  Toys can be dropped off at in the bins located across from McKelvie's main office.  Toys will be collected until December 16th. Thank you for your support of this holiday drive.

From the  McKelvie Library
In the MIS Library we had our third Search Slip Drawing ! These slips are filled out when students use the online catalog to search for books. Frannie Baldi, in Mrs. Stank's homeroom, had her name drawn. Congratulations to Frannie. She received a $5.00 gift certificate for a sweet treat from a local ice cream shop. Enjoy!

Thank you to the wonderful PTO members who helped to set up, host, and breakdown the Scholastic Holiday Book Fair! Here is a picture of a few of the members who graciously donated their time to help give the gift of reading to McKelvie and their families!
