4.6.18

Dear McKelvie Families ~

Has one little note ever made your day?  Well, click HERE for one dad’s hilarious pick up note.  It made my day! It is a joy to know you and your kids - really!  Below are this week’s notes:

Boys Flag Football
Thanks to the Labrie family, we will now be offering boys’ flag football for Q4.  Click HERE for additional information.

Hannaford Helps Schools
A HUGE thank you to everyone for saving your Hannaford dollars.  We received a check for $891.00!!  These funds will be used for student activities.  Many thanks!

Breakfast at McKelvie - NEW
Beginning March 30th, Food Services will be offering breakfast for McKelvie students.  The cost is $1.25 and will be available Monday through Friday. This is a pilot for our school to see how it is received.  Additional information is HERE.  Students can use their lunch accounts to purchase breakfast.

From the Library
Congrats to 6th grader Landon Larose from Mrs. Burke's homeroom! He was the 7th "Search Slip" winner for the month of March. Landon had his search slip filled out correctly and entered it into the monthly drawing when his class was looking for good reads! He won a $5.00 gift certificate to put towards a treat at a local ice cream establishment. Enjoy your treat, Landon!

On Thursday, Google was at McKelvie! What an amazing opportunity we were provided with. Our students and staff helped beta test the new Pioneer Augmented Reality (AR) app set to release next year.  Click HERE to see a short video about augmented reality. A Google Associate came and provided teachers with a 30 minute Augmented Reality training and then teachers were able to bring classes simultaneously to the library to lead their groups through 1-2 augmented reality lessons. Click HERE, HERE, and HERE to see the exploration.

Next week, we will be honoring National Library Week 2018 by voting for our favorite Great Stone Face Nominee. Students statewide, in grades 4-6, have an opportunity to vote. Students at McKelvie will have access to a Google Form voting ballot to cast their one vote. The form will be linked to the tab titled "Great Stone Face" off of the library website. The McKelvie winner will be announced during the week of April 16th. The statewide winner will be announced in May. Stay tuned!
